Just today it was all over the news portals: In a Swisscom glitch, cloud data from several hundred customers was sent into nirvana. In this case, it is an online storage service for private individuals. Is the cloud for SME data and business data safe at all? And what does cloud actually mean? Are there differences or different clouds? We try to provide understandable answers in our SME guide.
Switzerland is a country of SMEs; nowhere in Europe is the density of small and medium-sized enterprises as high as in our beautiful Switzerland. The topics of IT infrastructure, data and cloud are not necessarily core competencies. All hype, insecure and anyway much too expensive? Is my SME data safe in the cloud? I know these conversations with customers only too well! Most of the time SMEs in this country are specialized in an industry sector and have a high focus on your area of expertise. Topics such as IT infrastructure, cloud or digital transformation are not necessarily core topics, but they are no longer to be stopped in any profession. Otherwise, competitiveness will dwindle in the near future.
Caught in the IT terminology jungle
Cloud, digitalization, firewall, backup - there are thousands more terms in the IT world, which the average person cannot really imagine. The KMU-Ratgeber takes the topic Cloud for the first time.
- What does cloud computing actually mean?
- Which cloud suits me?
- What are the advantages of a cloud solution?
- What are the risks and is my data protected?
These are questions that no management team can ignore. We offer a hand and try to provide an approach to the topic.
