How HEAD IT Solutions modernized the IT environment of a law firm with Xelon's Cloud Infrastructure

Moving away from a rigid on-premise infrastructure to a customized Cloud: The Central Swiss IT company HEAD IT Solutions supported an Aargau law and notary's office moving their IT environment to the Cloud. As the project required the highest compliance and data protection standards, HEAD IT Solutions relied on Xelon's Cloud Infrastructure.

With the help of the IT company HEAD IT Solutions, based in Emmenbrücke (LU), an Aargau-based law firm wanted to update its entire IT infrastructure. "Together with the customer, we evaluated whether it was worth renewing the existing on-premise infrastructure, migrating the entire IT environment to the Cloud, or creating a hybrid solution," says Daniel Berning, Managing Director of HEAD IT Solutions. Like more and more SMEs across Switzerland, the law firm decided to move to the cloud due to the high availability, scalability, and more options for mobile working. "It was clear to us from the start: if it was going to be a cloud environment, we would work with Xelon," states Daniel Berning.

The law firm's sensitive data is stored securely

In addition to a stable, scalable, and flexible Cloud solution, another must-have criterion was the data location in Switzerland, as the client's IT environment must fulfill the highest compliance and data protection standards. As a Swiss Cloud Infrastructure provider, Xelon guarantees that all data remains in Switzerland. "Our infrastructure is located in ISO-certified data centers in the cantons of Zurich and Aargau, meaning that customer and company data never leaves Switzerland," explains Ueli Schwegler, Director of the Cloud Infrastructure Unit at Xelon. Xelon has held ISO 27001 certification since 2020. ISO 27001 is the leading international standard for information security management systems and the most important cyber security certification.

According to Daniel Berning, one of the key issues when migrating the IT environment was moving the law firm management software WinJur to the Cloud Infrastructure. "It was a challenge to migrate this software to the Cloud, but we have proven that it is possible. Since the Cloud migration, the day-to-day work of the legal and notarial team has become much easier and more efficient." The Cloud migration has also laid a solid foundation for future scaling.
